At least 30 dead and more than 100 injured during train accident in India

A train accident in Odisha, India, involving Coromandel Express company vehicles which derailed near Baleswar falling onto the opposite track and another company train from Yeswanthpur to Howrah collided with those derailed carriages, causing the derailment of at least 4 wagons.

According to the railway spokesman Amitabh Sharma, some 30 people died and more than a hundred were injured, he regretted the death of these people.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his sorrow for the loss of life in the train accident.

Modi said he had spoken to the Minister of Railways and taken stock of the situation, adding that rescue operations are underway at the crash site.
