At least 170 homes in Puerto Pailas, in the municipality of Cotoca, Santa Cruz, are under water due to the heavy rains that fell in the area. The population had to spend the night on the road and is now trying to save their belongings, which were placed in the middle of the road.

One of those affected who this Thursday was still trying to get her furniture out of her home lamented that every time it rains, the houses in the sector are flooded, a problem that is recorded because the pipe near the place fills and overflows with water and goes with direction towards the houses. That is why they ask the authorities for works.

“When it rains, everything fills with water and gets damaged. Every time you have to start from scratch, “lamented the woman, while she took care of the objects that she managed to get with her family.

“I am seeing if things work or not, like my refrigerator, since water got into everything. I have a kitchen that was in her box to give to my wife, a cooking machine that filled with water. My wardrobe is useless, I feel powerless, since this is due to the inability of the ABC (Bolivian Highway Administration), which has been asking it for a long time to build a bridge on the curve, which fills the tubes that are in the place and the water overflows and goes directly to the houses because it has no other course”, one of the affected residents told Unitel.

he man indicated that works are needed in the area to avoid this recurring problem. Because they were affected by the rains, he had to send his children to stay with a relative.
