At least 16 injured in New York subway shooting, not considered terrorist

A rush hour shooting in the brooklyn subwayin New York, left on Tuesday 16 people injured and triggered scenes of chaos as panicked passengers fled from a train full of smoke towards the platform.

Ten of the 16 wounded were shot.Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh said. The incident is not being investigated as an act of terrorism and no injuries are serious, Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell said.

The agent also said that the perpetrator of this shooting is an African American, who was wearing a gas mask, a green construction vest and sweatshirtand that he threw a smoke bomb inside the subway car, then shot and fled.

The incident started when a train was “approaching” the 36th street platforma passenger, Yav Montano, told CNN. He added that suddenly the smoke began to fill the car in which he was traveling.

Passengers rushed to the front of the car, Montano said, but the next door was locked, he indicated. “In the other car there were people who saw what was happening and tried to open the door but they couldn’t,” he added.

The police tweeted that “there were no active explosive devices at this time” and the fire department said “several unexploded devices” were found at the scene.

“Please clear the area,” said the police department, which He urged the witnesses to contact the police to offer information.
