The ITAIPU Binacional Scholarship Unit reported that the applicants selected in the 2023 Call have time until this Sunday, April 30, to request a change of career, university or venue, if necessary.
The note can be sent by email to the address [email protected] or physically presented in the offices of the Scholarship Unit of Asunción and Ciudad del Este; in the latter case, the presentation may be made only until 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, April 28.
On the application, the student must clearly explain the reasons for the requested modification. Once the aforementioned period has expired, new changes will no longer be admitted, since the scholarship recipients must sign the Annual Commitment Agreement, a document that establishes the obligations to maintain the scholarship during the development of their higher studies. For this procedure, the required documents, the place and the dates established for the signature will be published soon.
Total, there are 3,156 new ITAIPU scholarship holders, who were selected in a transparent process and in which more than 8,000 young people participated. Of the 3,199 applicants who reached the Socioeconomic Assessment phase (after passing the Basic Skills Test), 43 contestants were left out of the process for not meeting the requirements required in the Guide of Bases and Conditions (GBC) of the contest.
In the 2023 edition of the Scholarship Program, 80 university degrees to be studied in 35 public and private universities. Likewise, 25 technical careers (middle management) were available for 12 educational institutions. In compliance with the instructions of the National Government, to promote university and technical training opportunities for deserving young Paraguayans, the Binacional determined the expansion of places in this call.
Similarly, the general directorates of both sides of ITAIPU agreed to give a strong boost to projects and initiatives that benefit the population and demonstrate the Entity’s commitment to its socio-environmental responsibility. In this line, through the recently defined sales rate, ITAIPU ensures higher income for this task.
As part of its socio-environmental responsibility policy, From 2006 (the year the Scholarship Program was established) to 2023, ITAIPU awarded more than 25,000 university scholarships. Currently, there are around 7,500 active scholarship holders.
