Astronauts break six-game losing streak by beating the Eagles

Jairo Carrillo hit a bases-loaded hit in the top of the ninth inning driving in two runs as the Los Santos Astronauts rallied to beat the Águilas Metropolitanas 5-4.

The Santeños lost 3-0 in the first inning, but recovered scoring a run in the third inning and two more in the fourth to level the actions, the game remained tied until the eighth inning when Isaías Velásquez received a base for balls with the bases full for José Camarena to score the wheelie run and the Eagles took a 4-3 lead, however in the ninth came Jairo Carrillo’s hit with the bases loaded to turn the score around to win the game.

The winning pitcher was Raynel Guevara for the Astronauts (2-10) who broke a streak of six straight losses, while Enrique Saldaña charged with the loss for the Eagles (5-7).

Jairo Carrillo batted 3-2 with 1 scored and 2 pushes to be the best offensive for the ninth Santeña, his teammate Víctor Moscote went 4-1 with 2 pushed; Abraham Rodríguez 4-2 with 1 scored and Erick Arosemena 3-2. For the metropolitans, Isaías Velásquez went 4-3 with 1 run scored and 2 RBIs; Eduardo Vaughan went 1 for 5, with 1 RBI, 1 stolen base and Gerald Chin was 2 for 4 with 1 double.

The league will take a few days off for the Christmas holidays and will return to action next Monday, December 26 when the Eagles face the Astronauts at two in the afternoon and the Federales against the Atlantic at seven at night in the rod carew stadium
