Astesiano had about twenty police inquiries since 2003, for crimes such as: theft, fraud, damage and misappropriation, but “no criminal record”, the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, had said at a press conference, after knowing the detention and incommunicado detention, on the same Monday, September 26.
In the last few hours, it transpired that, in 2013, Astesiano had completed a judicial process that led to his imprisonment for four months for a “continued fraud” crime, according to La Diaria.
Likewise, in 2002, he was prosecuted, but without imprisonment, for the crime of fraud.
Special conditions
This Tuesday, September 27, the substitute judge Matías Porciúncula ordered Astesiano’s preventive detention for 30 days, for the crimes of “conspiracy to commit a crime”, a “continued crime of assumption of marital status as co-author” (forgery of marital status ), and a crime of influence peddling”.
The term of preventive detention is to be able to continue with the investigation into the organization dedicated to falsifying and marketing Uruguayan passports to Russian citizens. Astesiano had his operations center in his office on the fourth floor of the Executive Tower.
The now ex-custodian of Lacalle Pou, requested -in the framework of the judicial hearing-, special prison conditions, as a result of an altercation he had with inmates who had robbed his son last July.
In this sense, this Wednesday the 28th, Astesiano was transferred to the Florida jail for security reasons.
