Through a statement released this Sunday, the union that brings together prosecutors expressed its position regarding the request for impeachment against the head of the Prosecutor’s Office.
In the text, the association points out that for the effectiveness of a rule of law “must aim at strengthening its institutions, in this case, the Public Ministry, represented by the State Attorney General, Sandra Quiñónez.
“The political trial constitutes an established mechanism for the control of the performance in the position of the highest authorities of the various institutions that make up the powers of the State”, they express.

However, the prosecutors maintain that for the political trial to be adjusted to its constitutional purpose, it must clearly obey the well-being of the nation and the citizenry.
“Respect for the autonomy, independence and role of the Public Ministry is key to building a democracy that improves the quality of life of the inhabitants of the Republic of Paraguay,” the statement concludes.
The Chamber of Deputies declared a fourth intermission in the extraordinary session in which the request for impeachment against the State Attorney General was analyzed, and should be resumed again tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
