The Association of Magistrates of Uruguay published a statement in response to the statements of the senator for the National Party, Graciela Bianchi, who said in a Twitter space – in which Guido Manini Ríos and Raúl Lozano (Cabildo Abierto) were present – that the The Judiciary is “infiltrated”, without offering any proof of this alleged complaint.
“Given the dissemination of unfounded questions to the independence of the members of the Judiciary, the Association of Magistrates of Uruguay highlights, once again, the commitment of the judges of Uruguay with the principles of due process, independence and impartiality, and remember that whoever considers that they have not been complied with in any case, has the relevant legal channels available to make the corresponding claims, ”the statement begins by saying.
The magistrates add that they reaffirmed “the defense of democratic institutions, among which is the independence of the Judiciary and the full validity of the rule of law,” the document concludes.
