The Venezuelan Association in Chile asked the embassy in that country and the CNE to hold a day to update the Electoral Registry
The Venezuelan Association in Chile reported on its social networks that in the southern nation there are 375,000 Venezuelans who meet the requirements to vote in the 2024 presidential elections, for which they ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country to pronounce itself to explain the conditions of when a foreigner has “legal residence” or “condition of legality”.
Through a thread in Twitter, the NGO recalls that these are the requirements that are in Venezuelan law so that those who are outside the country can exercise their right to vote. For this reason, he indicated that the Chilean Foreign Ministry indicated that a foreigner has legal residence when he has temporary, permanent or official residence.
In this sense, they call on the National Electoral Council (CNE) and the Venezuelan Embassy in Chile to hold a day to update the Electoral Registry in order to be able to vote in the 2024 elections. For this reason, the NGO compared the situation with the country austral when reporting that there are already 3,000 citizens registered to vote in that nation.
That it issue a pronouncement about when it is understood that a foreigner has “legal residence” or “legal condition”, since these are the requirements established in Venezuelan legislation so that Venezuelans abroad can vote. 2/6

The National Primary Commission asked the CNE on several occasions the need to update the Electoral Registry both inside and outside the country for the 2024 elections, asserting that at least four million Venezuelans live abroad and have no way to how to enroll.
He electoral power indicated that it has been planning a “comprehensive day of cadastre of Voting Centers
and Electoral Registration Day, to cover the demands of all Venezuelans and Organizations with Political Purposes, to register and update data in the Electoral Registry”, although it does not indicate whether it will be done inside or outside the country.
However, in the detailed report of the CNE it is indicated that for the moment there is no money to pay for a massive internal journey that covers 1,500 points.
This Thursday April 20, The president of the National Commission for Primary Education, Jesús María Casal, said that in view of the CNE’s response to condition support for the primaries to the use of the fingerprint scanner, the use of the Electoral Registry or its own registry will be evaluated, either for the national election or specifically the vote abroad, the latter managed exclusively by the Primary Commission and of which they hope to make announcements in the coming weeks.
In his statements to the press, the president of the CP explained that on April 18 they were summoned to the CNE. At that meeting they received a document with the organization’s response from the rector Pedro Calzadilla.
