Assets managed by trust companies increased 6.40%

The report with the main figures of the Trust Sector published by Asofiduciarias, revealed that, as of June 2022, Assets managed by trust companies amount to $744 trillion, which represents an annual increase of 6.40% compared to the first half of 2021.

As of the cut-off date, the fiduciary sector manages 25,978 businesses that articulate multiple initiatives in different economic sectors through the different business modalities comprised of three main lines: fiduciary, asset management and custody of securities. Assets managed by the fiduciary sector are equivalent to 63.2% of GDP and 62.14% of third-party assets managed by the financial system.

Of the total managed assets, $180 billion correspond to asset management businesses, that is, investment trust lines, social security resources, voluntary pension funds, collective investment funds and private equity funds. The custody of securities safeguards assets for more than $162 billion, with an annual increase of 1.71%. The administration trust, real estate trust and guarantee trust businesses were the main drivers of both the growth in assets and in the number of businesses managed by the trust sector.

The President of Asofiduciarias, Germán Arce Zapata, highlighted that “The figures of the fiduciary sector at the end of the first semester of 2022 show the solidity of this sector, aligning itself with the fulfillment of the sectorial purpose, of being business articulators that contribute to the sustainable economic development of the country. Confidence, the main attribute of the sector, is reflected in the increase in assets and the number of businesses managed by the industry”.

The yields generated by the fiduciary sector to its trustors in the different entrusted businesses exceeded $8 billion pesos. In other words, for every $1,000 that the fiduciaries obtain in profit as companies, they pay $41,000 in returns to their clients, through the businesses that manage them.

As of June 2022, the Collective Investment Funds (FIC) and Private Equity Funds (FCP) show an annual growth of 1.61%, closing this semester with a balance of $87 billion in managed assets. In the first semester, 2,037,130 investors entrust their resources to these investment vehicles, which means an annual growth of 5%.

So far this year, more than 60,000 new investors have joined the FICs managed by the trust companies.
