Assemblyman Etacore asks that indigenous leaders of the MAS “show up” for the Ayoreo communities involved in the drug case

Assemblyman Etacore asks that indigenous leaders of the MAS “show up” for the Ayoreo communities involved in the drug case

The intervention of several Ayoreo from El Porvenir to a drug shipment from Colombian drug traffickers in Cuatro Cañadas has not yet been clarified and the Police and Prosecutor’s Office handle several hypotheses. What is clear to assemblywoman Giliana Etacore is that the MAS leaders: Josué Picanerai and Manuel Chiqueno Picanerai must defend the communities who supported them.

“That community (El Porvenir) is against me. They support Manuel Chiqueno and José Picanerai, who should speak out, but are hiding. It is very suspicious that they are involved in it and they must stand up for the communities that are supporting them”, Giliana said in telephone contact with EL DEBER.

Manuel Chiqueno is an indigenous leader related to the Movement for Socialism (MAS), which tries to replace the departmental assemblywoman Giliana Etacore, through a ruling by the Departmental Electoral Court, which has not yet been finalized.

Of 33 Ayoreo communities, 27 support Giliana and ask that she not be removed from her duties, so they are waiting for the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) to meet and issue a resolution that is favorable to them.

The Assemblywoman said that none of the indigenous peoples who support her are involved in the drug case in the municipality of Cuatro Cañadas, where the Special Force to Fight Drug Trafficking has already recovered 208 brick-like packages with cocaine.

“The 27 communities that support me have told me to isolate ourselves and that they (the Ayoreo from Porvenir) see how to solve your situation because that is a delicate case (…) Those communities are part of the minority that do not support me”, he commented.

Also, he said that ornot of the two ayoreo kidnapped by drug traffickers he would be the nephew of Manuel Chiquero, the same one who would be taking refuge in the Confederation of Indigenous Peoples of Bolivia (Cidob) and who to date has not given his statement to the Police.

“The hostage is the nephew of Manuel Chiqueno and they have given him refuge, When should you give your report to the Police? to find out why he was there and to clarify the facts,” he added.

In addition, according to police information, Simeón Dosapey Picanerai, who lost his life escaping from drug traffickers on his motorcycle early Monday morning, He would also be a relative of Josué Picanerai and Manuel Chiqueno Picanerai.

Giliana regrets that her Ayoreo brothers are suffering from this situation and asks that the two indigenous leaders at the end of the MAS help the community members who support them and provide an explanation of the facts.
