Assembly will hear today the report on the prison crisis

The session began with 127 assembly members present. The reading and approval of the report is expected to last throughout the day.

The president of the Assembly National, Guadalupe Llori, summoned the Plenary to know and resolve the report on prison crisis, approved by the Security Commission.

The report, of approximately 500 sheets, establishes around 75 recommendations and 53 conclusions that are based on public policies of social rehabilitation, security system, border security and budget.

Ramiro Narváez, president of the Security Commission, said that in order to carry out this report, “a process of inspection, information gathering and analysis has been carried out since May.”

Likewise, it asked the Plenary and the President to accept the observations that have been made in this report and not delay in making decisions and actions.

“The recommendations that the President has announced are weak, many of them obvious. That there is no zeal and that they embrace our work, “he said during a radio interview where he also made a call to Bernarda Ordóñez, Secretary of Human Rights, because – according to Narváez – she is in charge of repairing the victims ( of the massacre at the ‘Litoral Penitentiary’, an act that “wants to entrust the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control (CPCCS); Ordóñez tries to wash his hands, “he said.

Prior to the call, the commission held a meeting to analyze the Law for the Progressive Use of Force.

As indicated by the communication department of the president of the commission, it is expected that the debate and approval of the report spreads during the day due to the volume of the report and the comments of the legislators.

The session began with the presence of 127 assembly members and, so far, there is already a change in the agenda that was approved with 114 affirmative votes. This was proposed by Sofía Espín (UNES) to deal with the draft resolution that declares each November 15, of each year, as a Historic Day of the workers’ struggle in Ecuador. (MFU)
