Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Public Works and Communications, Deligne Ascención, started the asphalting work in the Alma Rosa sector, Santo Domingo Este municipality, which is part of the asphalting program carried out in that demarcation, where 17 streets have been included. , after a wait of more than 20 years.
Accompanied by Mayor Manuel Jiménez, as well as Ministry and community officials, Ascención carried out a tour of the sectors.
He said that the asphalt work is beginning in a first stage, which covers all of Alma Rosa II, responding to a claim of the last two decades by community members.
“By order of President Luis Abinader, and in action with the Santo Domingo Este City Council, we are here to respond to the situation of the streets and specific improvements to the drainage systems, sidewalks, and curbs; We will have to intervene more than 90 thousand square meters of streets laying asphalt, to give them the dignity with which the people who live here deserve to live, ”he said.
The activity was part of the reconstruction and paving of streets in the Santo Domingo Este municipality, as part of the road paving plan executed by the MOPC throughout the country.
The sectors of Alma Rosa I and II, Italia, El Rosal, Ensanche Ozama, will be intervened, and other areas such as El Cachón de la Rubia, Cancino, Nuevo Jerusalem, Mendoza highway, Mella highway, are already in the final phase of asphalting, “ We have already been accompanying the City Council in a series of areas, and we will continue with the objective and mandate of the President, that by December a good part of the inhabitants of this important municipality will be able to celebrate Christmas, eat their chicken and roast pork on Christmas Eve, celebrating in its clean and habitable streets”, expressed Ascención.
Other places that will benefit from the asphalt plan are the Mella highway, Ensanche Ozama and Villa Duarte.
Mayor Manuel Jiménez expressed that he feels happy, since the asphalt is one of the demands of the citizens. “Today we are starting a necessary solution that will generate a happy environment for all our passers-by, especially drivers who move in Santo Domingo East. Thanks to the Ministry of Public Works, which has listened to our claims and has come up with a solution today,” he said.

Community members and business owners in the area expressed their delight at seeing the asphalt paving teams stationed on the roads, after waiting for years as they watched their streets deteriorate.
