On the massive deportations and the strategy of the Dominican Government to control the irregular immigration of Haitian nationals, the president of the National Association of Hotels and Tourism (asonahores), Rafael Blanco Tejeraconsidered it essential for all productive sectors to maintain controls for regularization.
He indicated that, in general terms, there are many foreigners in the country and that part of the proper development of the economy includes controlling immigration. “A country that does not regularize the sectors does not get anywhere”commented Blanco Tejera.
The president of asonahores expressed that the The tourism sector is confident that a responsible deportation process will be exhaustedrespecting those who are in Dominican territory duly documented. “Anyone who is not legal, unfortunately, must accept the process,” he said.
In addition to the migratory aspect, he considered that the authorities should pay attention to the dynamism of the productive sectors. In that order, he explained that controls must be established in services, commerce, informality and other areas that represent a burden for the State.
Blanco Tejera spoke as part of the celebration of the Eighth Annual Meeting for the Tourism Development of Samanácarried out by the Samaná Tourism Cluster (CTS) and the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies of Samaná (Ahetsa) in said province.
The Dominican government seeks to limit irregular immigration in the country, especially Haitians, with more operations throughout the national territory.
In recent days, the High Commissioner of the United Nations Organization (UN) for human rights, Volker Türk, asked the Dominican Republic to stop the deportations of Haitians.
