The sector sightseeing generates more than 570,000 jobs direct and indirect in the Dominican Republic and this year it is estimated that it could close with more than $8.4 billion income for the country.
This was expressed by Rafael Blanco Tejera, president of the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores), in his V Forum of Investment.
It revealed that the sector sightseeing Dominican Republic will end 2022 with a generation of investment annual foreign direct of about 1 billion dollarsrepresenting more than 30% of the total that enters the country and a total impact on 16% of the gross domestic product (GDP).
“According to the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), the sector sightseeing acquires more than 870 million dollars a year from the sector. In fact, 90% of all purchases of agricultural products in the tourism sector are domestically produced,” he said.
He said that another important aspect is the decentralization of wealth than tourism has generated on the national territory.
“Each of the provinces of this country benefits from the tourism sector, be it through the tourist activity itself, be it through excursions to those demarcations or through the production of goods consumed by the sector,” he said at the opening of the V Forum of Investment of Asonahores.
He emphasized that investing in sightseeing is to invest in the stability and development of the country, which according to the Central Bank, is the fundamental sector for the Dominican economy.
He assured that the success that has been achieved as a country has been due to the fact that there is a clear policy of support for the tourism sector and that has led to the creation of an ecosystem of sightseeing that works, based on six fundamental pillars.
