One of the positive impacts pointed out by the report of the financial union is that Mi Casa Ya (MCY) in March 2016 reported 1,569 operations, while the same month 6 years later, the figure reached 66,452, which is equivalent to multiplying 42 timesyes
Another positive impact that this program has had, according to Asobancaria, has to do with the targeting of resources, since between 2017 and 2021 the participation of households in up to 2 minimum wages (SML) increased from 17% to 82%.
In addition, the report indicates that MCY allows 60% of the Colombian population to access credit and thus the possibility of acquiring their own home, and that currently79.6% of social interest housing (VIS) disbursements use this support.
The Asobancaria report also cited an evaluation made by the National Planning Department (DNP), in which they point out that among the benefits of the program are that the participants have an improvement in the security of the environment, a 55% lower probability of being poor households, 11% less than having low educational achievement and 26% less than not having health insurance.

Finally, Asobancaria’s analysis in Banking and Economy proposes four fronts for strengthen housing policy.
Continue working on the targeting of Mi Casa Ya; consolidate the program of alternatives with subsidized guarantees for the informal population, so that they have coverage similar to that with the subsidies from the compensation funds.
Also expand housing improvement programs, including credit options for families, and promote rural housing programs.
