The Salta Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered requests for “urgent reports and testimonial statements” in the case of a woman who gave birth on the street, after staff from the Papa Francisco Hospital refused to treat her, the province’s attorney general reported. , Pedro Garcia Castiella.

Analía Adet Figueroa, surrogate of Criminal Prosecutor No. 6 and in charge of the investigation, ordered a series of orders of “urgent reports, filming from video surveillance cameras in the area and testimonial statements for this Monday,” Castiella told Télam.

He also requested a report with the administrative and medical list of the hospitala legal medical verification of the health conditions of the mother and babyin addition to her medical history, listed the official.

The prosecutor listened “very firmly” to the Minister of Health (from Salta, Federico Mangione), who yesterday reported that “a thorough investigation will be made” administrative and that “the thread will not be cut for the finest, it will go to the bone so that this does not happen again” in statements he made to the media.

Last night, the minister visited the family at the Pope Francis Hospital and verified that she was discharged on Friday the baby who had suffered a clavicle fracture and a head injury from falling on asphaltwhile the mother is well.

In dialogue with Télam, Mangione reported that the hospital employee who told the family that they could not be treated there because “there were no gynecologists or obstetricians” would have history of “misconduct” with patients at another medical center.

He also maintained that they will seek to find out if some hierarchical position in the hospital gave the ordern not provide this type of service.

“If so, the weight falls on that person too, because ultimately the woman would follow orders,” he added.

And he stressed that “In the emergency room, regardless of the profile of the hospital, you have to attend. It’s a medical obligation.” For this reason, yesterday he sent “a memo to all hospitals saying that it is an obligation to attend to any type of emergency, even if it is not in the portfolio of services.”

The family’s complaint

According to the complaint made by the baby’s father and images that went viral on social networks and media, the employees did not want to call an ambulance either and from SAME they told her that they should go to the Maternal and Child Hospital, in the north of the city.

Given this, a man offered his vehicle to take the pregnant woman, but before getting into the car the woman gave birth in the street, while she was walking.

“That made me even more outraged because at least we could take her in the ambulance. What did it cost to treat her?” Mangione told Télam.

Regarding the event, the baby’s father informed TV channels yesterday that on Thursday around 9:30 p.m. his wife “felt a lot of pain in her belly” for which he reached her at the Pope Francisco Hospital “which is the closest “.

“I leave her at the entrance, I park the motorcycle and when I go to look for her I see that she leaves the hospital and she tells me that they told her that there was no staff and that they could not attend to her,” the man counted.

Finally, the woman had to give birth on the street.

“My wife gave birth standing up. People ran out when they saw the baby on the floor, and then a nurse came out,” the man said.
