Ask politicians to unite in post-democracy

The bishop of the Diocese of La Altagracia, Monsignor Jesús Castro Marte, considered yesterday that the country requires the collaboration and unity of all, starting with the representatives of political parties to strengthen democracy and that it does not lose its horizon.

When presiding over the homily for the commemoration of the Day of Our Lady of Altagracia, in Higüey, an act headed by President Luis Abinader, the Catholic asked the Virgin Mother of Jesus to intervene in this regard.

“It is a moment of unity among us, we promote democracy, because democracy without unity loses its horizon and its reason for being, this unity is related to businessmen, professionals, universities, civil society and the whole Dominican people,” he said.

After pointing out that the virgin was the face of the new woman in the kingdom of God, Castro stated that there is relevant leadership of the Dominican woman in matters of decision and direction, but that she continues to be very vulnerable and a silent victim of violence.

The priest recalled that article 37 of the Substantive Charter establishes life from the concession until death.

“The Criminal Code must be approved, but maintaining that human life begins from the concession; approving abortion in the country would contradict the Constitution, which is the shield of our Laws,” he added.

Family

In his words, Castro Marte assured that the Catholic Church will defend marriage between a woman and a man, but at the same time rejects the ideology that subjects women to objects of consumption that only serves to distort their true feminine identity.
