Thanks to the rain registered between Sunday and Monday, the population of Ascensión de Guarayos is supplying itself with water. The scarcity of the liquid element made it necessary to resort to a distant river 12 kilometers from the municipality, to transport water in tanker trucks.
The extreme shortage of drinking water in Ascensión de Guarayos, for more than a month, would be about to come to an end.
The prolonged rain, which fell on Sunday night and part of Mondaycaused the reservoir lagoon and the Sapocó River, from where the purification plant is fed, to collect water and the liquid no longer has to be brought from the San Pablo River, 12 kilometers from Ascension, on the road to Trinidad, in cisterns.
“Today we have pumped from the Sapocó River to the lagoon and from the lagoon to the plant for its purification. There is water at least for now, hopefully the rains continue”said Pedro Choque, manager of Cospas, one of the service providers.
Ascension of Guarayos It is one of the 80 municipalities that the Government identified as affected by the drought. Proof of this is that its reservoir lagoon, to provide the liquid element, dried up.
