Arturo McFields: «General Avilés is alone. Nobody came to the sad anniversary of the Army»

The former ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS) Arturo McFields pointed out that in the central act for the 43rd anniversary of the Nicaraguan Army, the head of the military institution, General Julio Cesar Aviles Castillodid not have the support of other leaders of Central America or South America.

“The general is also alone. Unlike other times, the sad anniversary of the Army was not attended by generals or Army chiefs from Mexico, Central America, or South America. NOBODY arrived; total smear,” McFields said through his Twitter account.

The former diplomat remarked that “the hands” of Julio Cesar Avilés and all the members of the Nicaraguan Army, submissive to the orders of Daniel Ortega, “are full of blood.”

The event held on the night of Friday, September 2 in Plaza de la Revolución, was presided over by the dictator Daniel Ortega, supreme head of the Nicaraguan Army, the deputy dictator Rosario Murillo, the commander in chief of the Army, Julio Cesar Avilés and other high national commanders of the military institution.

The sanctioned president of the National Assembly, Gustavo Porras, the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Alba Luz Ramos, as well as the vice president of the Supreme Electoral Council (CSE), Cairo Amador, the attorney general of the Republic, Ana Julia, also participated. Guido, the attorney general of the republic, Wendy Carolina Morales and the former head of the Army, Omar Halleslevens, among others.

However, there were no guests from foreign armies. The moderator simply said that “special guests” had attended, without specifying who they were.

Defend the homeland from “traitors”

On the other hand, General Avilés declared that the Army will “always be the first” to defend” the sovereignty, independence and dignity of the country “in the face of the stain and shame that traitors represent.”

“Any foreign interference in the internal affairs of Nicaragua or any attempt to undermine those rights threatens the life of the people, it is the duty of all Nicaraguans to preserve and protect those rights.”

“Consequently, with this duty, the members of the Nicaraguan Army will always be the first to defend them together with all Nicaraguans who want to have a homeland. Defend them as our national heroes did, shedding their blood to dignify us as a people in the face of the stain and shame that traitors represent,” added the senior Army chief.

Avilés, once again was faithful and submissive to the orders of the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, since I do not hesitate to affirm that they are firm and willing to “defend the homeland.”
