Artists from Cuba, Germany and Mexico won the main prizes of the Circuba 2022 International Festival, which concluded this Sunday in Santiago de Cuba.
After four days of presentations at the Heredia Theater, the contest’s jury — chaired by Pavel Kotov, senior casting director of the renowned Circo del Sol — awarded first place to the Havana Company, from Cuba. A regular winner at these events, this group has now prevailed thanks to its acrobatic swing act, one of the most applauded by the public that filled the Santiago installation.
Meanwhile, the second place went to the young German Joana Lokaichuk, from Germany, for her performance in the artistic discipline of arm wrestling, while the third place went to the Mexican Javier Jiménez, for his number of aerial tapes, according to review the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
In addition, the popularity award went to Steven Reyna, from Peru, who captivated the audience at the Heredia Theater with his 1.75 and 3.50 meter high unicycles and his marabares with balls, hoops and canes.
