Arrúa treats “Kencho” Rodríguez as “arrogant” and “using natives”

During the ordinary session of the Chamber of Senators, in the chapter on “Requests and formulations”, a “crossfire” was generated between Senator Georgia “Nani” Arrúa of Patria Querida and Miguel Fulgencio “Kencho” Rodríguez of the Guasu Front.

The discussion revolves around the Ka’apoty indigenous community that claims ownership of 1,364 hectares within the district of Ytakyry (Alto Paraná). Last Monday, when Rodríguez, as president of the Commission of Indigenous Peoples, went to the area to verify the situation of the natives, he encountered resistance from the lawyer Michelle Betancourt, who represents the Brazilian farmers who claim to own the same lands.

In videos it can be seen how the lawyer, in the company of the farmers, closes the path of the legislative delegation. In addition, they verbally assault him and hit the ground balls. Given this, Rodríguez goes down and shouts at the lawyer.

Due to this situation, “Nani” Arrúa, who alleges that the property titles belong to Brazilians, requested a sanction for Rodríguez for touching the lawyer’s face. She also asks to convene the INDI and Indert authorities to resolve the issue.

“This community is transferred to lands with conflicting titles and exposed to evictions. Land owners are affected by overlapping titles. Kencho, as arrogant as he may be, cannot impose his ideas”, he stated.

He affirmed that neither Senator “Kencho” Rodríguez, nor the NGOs are not those who sleep in the open.

“Those who cannot live in peace are them. Cacique Marta is the one exposed to judicial sanctions. It cannot be that we continue to use the most vulnerable sectors for political purposes or for populism or to install ideas”, she commented.
