Arroyo defends the PRM delegate convention

Nelson Arroyo, leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).

The leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Nelson Arroyo, considered that democracy is about respecting the majority, referring to the convention of delegates proposed by the Executive Directorate of that party.
He maintained that although he respects the position of Guido Gómez Mazara and Ramón Alburquerque on the vote of the militancy, he assures that the executive leadership of the PRM voted in a majority manner.

The official asked Gómez Mazara and Alburquerque to maintain their position, respecting the position of the base.

“The management voted in a majority way so that the formula for choosing the direction is through the convention of delegates and in this way comply with what is established in article 28 of Law 33-18. This establishes that it has to be a democratic method that is not necessarily the convention of delegates, ”he indicated.

He affirmed that the convention takes place because the country presents special conditions, among which the Ukraine crisis and the covid-19 pandemic stand out.

The PRM convened the National Committee for next Friday, where they will ratify the convention of delegates as a method to elect their new members of the executive direction.

This proposal has generated multiple debates within that political organization.
