Officials of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) detained a 46-year-old citizen when he was driving a vehicle in whose refrigeration gas cylinders he was transporting 14 panelas of marijuana, with a gross weight of 13,204 kilograms.
The procedure was carried out at the “Jacinto Lara” Citizen Service Point located on the Lara (Barquisimeto) – Zulia (Maracaibo) road axis.
The man was driving from the city of Maracaibo, capital of the Zulia region, “a Chevrolet model C3500 vehicle, belonging to the DOMESA parcel company” as detailed by G/D Rafael David Prieto Martínez, Commander of the Defense Operational Zone Integral Zodi Lara, who in turn added that the action is part of the Bolivarian Shield Operation 2022.
Prieto Martínez then alleged that through said operation “different criminal groups have been dismantled throughout the territory.”
He specified that the troops attached to the third company of Detachment No. 122 and URIA -12 (Lara) were executing routine vehicle profiling and verification tasks, managing to observe that inside two refrigeration gas cylinders, they were moving in a hidden way, the aforementioned amount of drugs.
According to the military authority, “the final destination of the delivery would be in the city of Barquisimeto, but thanks to the anti-drug expertise of the GNB troops, it did not materialize,” he revealed.
At the same time, he praised the permanent fight against drugs that the Bolivarian National Armed Forces maintain throughout the country.
He concluded by saying that the procedure was ordered by the Prosecutor’s Office with jurisdiction over drugs of the Public Ministry (MP) of Lara state.
“The Territorial Defense System in the entity is forcefully committed to the frontal and radical fight against the drug trafficking mafias,” said the head of Zodi Lara in an institutional report given this Monday, November 14 of the current year.
