At least five outbreaks of forest fires were registered this afternoon in different areas of the province of Córdoba, while so far there are five detainees in a legal case that investigates the intentionality of some of the incidents, two routes were cut and it was suspended the date of the Argentine Rally, due to the risk of new beginnings.
According to official data, the fires are located in the vegetation of Las Tapias, in the surroundings of Alpa Corral, Panaholma, General Deheza and Achiras, in the department of Río Cuarto in the southern province, and outbreaks were added in the eastern province. near Monte Maíz, and another between Las Perdices and Carnerillo, in the department of Tercero Arriba.
As a result of this last focus, National Route 158 remains completely closed, between both towns, due to reduced visibility due to smoke and ashes, while Provincial Route 11 was reopened in Monte Maíz, after remaining closed for the same reason.
The fires, which until this Wednesday were registered in the Traslasierra mountains, between the Pocho and San Javier departments, as well as in the surroundings of Deán Funes in the north of the province, are under control.
From the Ministry of Security they reported that crews from various fire departments of the Technical Team for Disaster Action (ETAC) are working in the combat operation.
“In General Deheza, due to highly unfavorable conditions for overflights, hydrant planes cannot operate at the moment,” said the provincial Ministry of Security.
This afternoon it was learned that provincial authorities decided, together with firefighters in the area, to suspend the 7th date of the Argentine Rally, which was to be held between this Friday and Sunday on the roads of the Punilla Valley, due to the risk of fire.

The local Secretary for Climate Risk and Catastrophe Management, Claudio Vignetta, warned that the extreme risk of fires in Córdoba will continue until Saturday afternoon, therefore, “the next few days will be critical, with intense north wind, temperature above of 30 degrees, ambient humidity practically non-existent”, added to the drought that lends itself to forest fires.
