Arrested man who extorted merchants

Officials from the Extortion Investigations Division of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (Cicpc) arrested a criminal who was engaged in extorting merchants from Quinta Crespo and the Mercado Mayor de Coche.

The Cicpc investigations, after intense investigative work, found José Gregorio Cruz Guzmán (35), who extorted merchants offering various services.

The modus operandi of this criminal consisted of, after proposing his offer, recording the telephone numbers of his potential victims to supposedly send them the services he offered and, as the hours passed, the victims received messages requesting various amounts of money from exchange of not attempting against their lives or that of their relatives.

Therefore, the officials carried out an analysis of telephone traces, after which they managed to arrest Cruz Guzmán in Los Cangilones, La Vega parish in Caracas. At the scene they found a cell phone and the clothing he was wearing the day he approached one of his victims.

Police sources said that this element added more than 10 victims and, in addition, that investigations continue in order to capture those who cooperated with this criminal.
