State Security is cruel to the Cuban teacher and her daughters.

MIAMI, United States. — Cuban professor and intellectual Alina Bárbara López Hernández; his daughter Lilian Borroto López, and the writer Jorge Fernández Era remain detained in the city of Matanzas, Cecilia Borroto López denounced this Thursday ―also the daughter of the teacher from Matanzas― in a Facebook post.

According to the young woman’s publication, the three were transferred to the Beach Police Unit, in an operation in which, she claims, State Security intervened directly.

According to the complaint, Fernández Era and Lilian Borroto López were driven in a “civilian” car, not in a police patrol, and were entered into the station through an entrance “that is not visible,” which, in their opinion, evidences the participation of political police agents. In the case of López Hernández, it is unknown if she was detained by a State Security vehicle or by a regular patrol.

Borroto López pointed out that, until the moment of its publication, almost at 1:00 pm this Thursday, the authorities intended to draw up a warning against his mother “for violating her house confinement”, while they would try to impose a similar measure on Lilian Borroto López “for her posts on Facebook today.” Regarding Jorge Fernández Era, he indicated that it was not yet known what decision the authorities would adopt.

In her message, the complainant described her sister’s arrest as a “kidnapping”, as she explained that she was “a sick daughter, who worries about her mother and demands the rights of both”, taken to the police unit to be “interviewed by State Security”. He added that the young woman is convalescing from chikungunyaand expressed fear that she would be physically attacked during detention.

The publication also denounces the reiteration of arrests against López Hernández, “a 60-year-old woman,” and accuses the authorities of once again denying her “her rights to freedom of expression, movement and demonstration.” Regarding Fernández Era, he points out that it is “an older man who is harassed.”

Borroto López also recalled that she and her sister filed a complaint more than two years ago with the Matanzas Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against State Security for the harassment they suffered, without – as she claims – having received any response to date. In her testimony, she describes harassment practices that she claims to have previously suffered, such as constant surveillance, interrogations of neighbors and friends, and pressure on establishments to deny her entry, as well as the presence of an agent following her “everywhere.”

“We will never be alone, we are good and decent people. We demand the rights that correspond to us,” the young woman concluded.
