Arrested in Florida suspect of murdering a couple in Massachusetts

Miami, Dec 4 (EFE).- The alleged murderer of a married couple found dead and with signs of violence in Massachusetts (USA) was arrested in Miami-Beach, South Florida, after being persecuted through several states since last Friday when he was recorded the event, authorities reported.

Christopher Keeley, arrested by Miami-Dade County police, was wanted for the murders of Carl and Vicki Mattson, married and both 70 years old, who were found stabbed and beaten to death at their home in Marshfield, Massachusetts, last Tuesday night.

The 27-year-old faces charges related to the murder of the couple in Marshfield, a town of 25,825 inhabitants located one hour from Boston, the local CBS channel 4 in Miami reported this Sunday.

Timothy Cruz, Plymouth County District Attorney, where Marshfield is located, and Marshfield County Police Chief Philip Tavares confirmed Keeley’s arrest and said they had located him this weekend in Miami Beach.

According to authorities, Keeley appeared to have changed her hair color and appearance prior to her arrest.

According to Cruz, Keeley was an acquaintance of the murdered couple and fled the scene in a vehicle that was later recovered in the town of Avon, Massachusetts.

The Prosecutor’s Office has said that it is possible that Keeley’s attack on the Mattsons, whose dog was also found dead in the house, was “targeted and not random”.

Citing interviewed neighbors, NBC channel 10, in Boston, details that Keeley had been a friend of the couple’s son and had been living with the family for several months.

Keeley is due to appear in a Miami-Dade court shortly to determine whether he will be extradited to Massachusetts or the defendant will waive extradition. EFE
