On August 1, the First Division of the National Army confirmed the death of one of its professionals in the midst of an armed confrontation with members of the Gulf Clan, which took place this July 31 in Montecristo, south of Bolívar. Soldier Adrián Camilo Madera Tapia died from the seriousness of the wounds and despite the medical care received.

“Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the staff, the professional soldier Adrián Camilo Madera Tapia died as a result of the severity of the wounds suffered in the attack,” the army said through an official statement.

Regarding this, recently, the Attorney General’s Office issued an urgent call to national and local authorities to intervene in the humanitarian crisis that is lived in the municipality of Santa Rosa del Sur, Bolívar. According to the Public Ministry, more than 5,000 people are confined in the corregimientos of Canelos, Villaflor, Buenavista and on the sidewalks La Marizosa and Pie de Sabana.

The situation is due to the restrictions imposed by illegal armed groups, that prevent the population from the free entry and exit of their territories, as well as access to essential goods. This confinement has generated an emergency in the area.
