Army reinforces security in Sinaloa with the deployment of 180 troops

As announced, his incorporation aims to reinforce the operational deployment that the 9th Military Zone already maintains in the state.

According to Defense, these troops will strengthen the joint actions carried out by the Mexican Army, the Air Force and the National Guard to inhibit the illicit activities of criminal groups with a presence in the region.

The reinforcement occurs after, in recent months, Sinaloa has registered an uptick in violence associated with disputes between organized crime groups, with armed confrontations, road blockades, attacks on security forces and high-impact events in municipalities such as Culiacán, Mazatlán and rural areas of the center and south of the state.

These episodes have generated concern among the population and have impacted daily life, mobility and economic activities.

Just this Friday, Governor Rubén Rocha Moya denied that elements of the Army are withdrawing from Culiacán as has emerged on social networks and assured that the operations are being reinforced.

“There are no fewer soldiers, no one has left, the number we have here will be maintained, on the contrary General Trevilla came and reinforced it,” said the governor.

The deployment is also carried out after this Thursday the Secretary of National Defense, Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, visited the Third Military Region to reinforce the operations after a day of violence in Escuinapa with clashes between rival groups where there were road blockades, attacks with explosive devices launched by drones, with a death toll of five.
