The National Army issued a statement this Sunday announcing the start of an investigation into the disappearance of weapons from its warehouses.
According to what is indicated by the document, the authorities became aware of the situation as a result of a police operation carried out this Saturday, July 23. As a result of the police work, the agents managed to seize a pistol brand Glock caliber 9mm. When checking the weapon, the Army verified that it was a pistol belonging to them; this should be in the endowment of the Material and Armament Service (SMA) of this institution.
Inspection in warehouses throughout the country
Motivated by this situation, an immediate inspection of the SMA weapons depots began, the Army indicated. After the check, it was found that two other pistols of the same brand were missing. Consequently, an intervention was initiated in the Military Justice and an “urgent investigation” was initiated.
In addition, the statement reported that this Sunday from the military institution a police complaint was filed for the situation. Likewise, “an urgent inspection of weapons depots throughout the country was ordered, which completes the routine inspections,” they advanced.
