Army detains 132 Haitian migrants during operations in Mao and Valverde

Santo Domingo. He Army of the Dominican Republic (ERD) stopped 132 undocumented Haitian migrants during a series of simultaneous interdiction operations carried out in different communities of the municipality mao and the province Valverdeas part of the reinforcement of border security in the northwest area.

The military patrols carried out the operations in the communities of Amine, lagoon and Guatapanalwhere migrants moving irregularly within the national territory were detected.

Of the total detained, 112 are men and 20 are womenwho were transferred to the headquarters of the 4th. Infantry Brigade for subsequent delivery to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM)as established by current processing and repatriation protocols.

These actions are part of the continuous operations arranged by the General Commander of the Armyaimed at reinforcing the border control and surveillance, combat the smuggling of migrants and guarantee the compliance with immigration laws in the northwest region

The ERD reaffirms its commitment to maintaining security and order in bordering areas, as well as supporting immigration authorities in the detection and processing of foreign citizens in an irregular situation.
