Santiago Rodríguez.– The Army of the Dominican Republic (ERD) arrested a well-known trafficker of undocumented immigrants, while he was traveling in a vehicle with six Haitian nationals with irregular immigration status in Santiago Rodríguez.
According to preliminary information, the detainee identified as Expedito Rodríguez, known in the area with the alias “Bobolé”, had previously been prosecuted within the framework of border security operations and appears in records as a repeat offender in activities linked to illicit human trafficking and smuggling.
Actions by the authority The arrest took place in the Mamoncito sector, municipality of Monción, when ERD soldiers intercepted, during patrol work in the early hours of this Sunday, the white Jeep brand jeep, license plate G298987, in which the undocumented foreigners were traveling, including three (03) men and three (03) women.
During the arrest process, the arrested citizen resisted, so the soldiers involved had to apply control techniques to bring him under order.
The military authorities transferred the detainee and the undocumented foreigners to the ERD Fortress in Santiago Rodríguez and are compiling the available information for presentation to the Public Ministry.
Expedito Rodríguez (Bobolé), had been arrested in May 2023, in a residence located in the La Bomba sector of Dajabón, for his alleged involvement in the Border Operation, carried out by the authorities to dismantle structures for the trafficking of people and illicit goods, for which he was under a measure of coercion consisting of periodic presentation.
The arrest occurred a few hours after the General Command of the Army ordered changes in some infantry brigades; in this case, after the appointment of Brigadier General José Manuel Durán Infante, ERD, as commander of the 4th. Infantry Brigade, based in Mao, Valverde
