A new case of kidnapping was recorded in the Catatumbo region, where a merchant was detained with one of his children while they were working in his vehicle spare parts store. located in the urban area of the municipality of Tibú, in Norte de Santander.
The FM learned that the Sunday, December 21, around noon, Two armed men traveling on a motorcycle arrived at the commercial establishment and forced Luis Antonio Salazar Amaya, 65, into the vehicle. At that time, the merchant was accompanied by one of his children, a minor, who was also initially detained.

After what happened, the teenage son managed to alert his older brotherDiego Salazar Ortega, 31 years old, who is also a merchant and has a store nearby. Upon arriving at the site to find out details of what happened, the young man was approached by the same armed men and forced to get on another motorcycle. Since then, the whereabouts of Luis Antonio Salazar and Diego Salazar Ortega have been unknown.
Relatives of the victims indicated that they do not know who would be behind the kidnapping and asked the armed groups to respect the lives of their loved ones, as well as their prompt release.in the hope that they can return home to spend the Christmas and New Year holidays with their family.
Likewise, they assured that they had never received threats and that they have been residing in Tibú for more than 20 years, where they are dedicated to the sale of vehicle oil, tires and other mechanical elements, without links to any armed group.

In parallel, in the Pacelli districtrural area of the municipality of Tibú, another incident of kidnapping that occurred on Saturday, December 20 was reported. According to information disseminated by the community through social networks, a woman, another adult and a two-month-old baby were kidnapped by the ELN.
The people were identified as Nancy Sánchez and Sister Nikol, who was accompanied by the minor. Until now, the whereabouts of these people are also unknown, while concern grows over the public order situation in this area of the country.
