Armed men invaded the toll plaza on the Padre Manoel da Nóbrega Highway, located at km 279, near São Vicente, on the coast of São Paulo, at around 3:50 am this Monday (9). Ecovias, the concessionaire that manages the road, reported that one of the robbers died at the scene.
The group entered the dealership building and used explosives, in addition to approaching some users on the highway. According to Ecovias, shots were fired at the location during the action.
“There were no injuries among employees or road users. The body of one of the robbers was found in the rubble where the explosives were used. The expertise was called in and the investigations are being conducted by the civil police,” Ecovias said in a note.
The São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP) reported that the Civil Police is working to identify and arrest the criminals involved in the robbery that occurred at the toll plaza and that policing in the region has been reinforced.
“Road police officers were called to respond to the incident and, at the scene, they were informed that criminals were carrying out robberies using explosives. During the action, one of the suspects died. The accomplices fled, taking the victims’ vehicles and belongings,” the ministry said in a statement.
