The operational strategic commander of the National Armed Forces, G/J Domingo Hernández Lárez, reported on the destruction of a camp dedicated to illegal mining in the Atabapo municipality, Amazonas state.
The camp was found near the Cárida indigenous community, in the Mina Vieja sector, as explained by the head of the ceofan in a Instagram post. In the action, as part of “Operation Fog 2025”, 600 liters of gasoline, four mills, a water suction motor pump, a mill shaft and a mill flywheel were seized.
«Said material and equipment that served as logistical support was incinerated on site in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Criminal Law for violation of the legal system and the security of national defense,” Hernández Lárez added in the publication.

He did not specify if there were people detained in the operation, although he indicated that the Public Ministry was notified. Furthermore, the military chief recalled that in the state of Amazonas “any type of non-traditional open pit mining exploitation is prohibited; anyone who violates the law becomes a criminal.”
On Wednesday, the official reported the destruction of another camp in the state of Amazonas, where they seized 200 liters of gasoline, six water suction motors, an electric generator, two mining snails (headlamps), 50 meters of high-pressure hose and other materials that were destroyed.
