Interested parties must reside in one of the 28 municipalities (in 14 states) provided for in the General Call Plan, established by order from the Ministry of Defense: Águas Lindas de Goiás (GO), Belém (PA), Belo Horizonte (MG), Brasília ( DF), Campo Grande (MS), Canoas (RS), Cidade Oeste (GO), Corumbá (MS), Curitiba (PR), Florianópolis (SC), Formosa (GO), Fortaleza (CE), Guaratinguetá (SP), Juiz de Fora (MG), Ladário (MS), Lagoa Santa (MG), Luziânia (GO), Manaus (AM), Novo Gama (GO), Pirassununga (SP), Planaltina (GO), Porto Alegre (RS), Recife (PE), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Salvador (BA), Santa Maria (RS), Santo Antônio do Descoberto (GO), São Paulo (SP) and Valparaíso de Goiás (GO).

The number of vacancies for women in voluntary military service will grow progressively until it reaches 20% of vacancies. This year 1,465 vacancies are being offered – 1,010 vacancies for the Army; 300 for the Air Force and 155 for the Navy. The expectation is that these numbers will be progressively increased, until a rate of 20% of military service vacancies is reached.

Interviews and tests

Young women who come to apply must undergo a selection process that includes an interview, physical tests and health examinations. Depending on the city, they will be able to choose the force they want to integrate. In the Navy, women will be incorporated as recruit sailors, in the Army as soldiers and in the Air Force as second-class soldiers.

Beware of scams

Enlistment can be done in person at the Air Force, Army and Navy military service boards; or online. In a notice on the website, the Armed Forces warn against scams.

According to the information“scammers attract citizens who want to issue military certificates with fraudulent websites that promise ease in obtaining these documents.” The alert advises that payments for enlistment should only be made on the enlistment page.

The enlistment of women was unprecedented in Brazil, but women had already entered military careers since the 1980s. Currently, 37 thousand women work in the Armed Forces (10% of the workforce), after passing a public exam or as temporary military personnel. .

According to a note from the Ministry of Defense, they are placed mainly “in the areas of health, education and logistics or have access to the combat area through specific public competitions in educational establishments, such as the Naval College (CN), the Navy, the Escola Army Cadet Preparatory School (EsPCEx) and the Air Cadet Preparatory School (EPCAR), of the Air Force.”

Among men, around 1.5 million young people apply annually for military enlistment, but less than 10% are incorporated. Military enlistment in Brazil was regulated during the time of the Empire (1874).
