José Armando Palma, an environmental consultant, referred to the situation at Minera Panamá. He indicated that there is fear that the copper concentrate in the mine could be harmful to the country. Currently, a safe management plan is in place.
Palma pointed out that there is a risk of contamination and illegal mining in the Minera Panamá area.
Maintaining copper concentrate causes gases to be toxic and poses a risk to personnel inside the mine.
