A total of 95 bladed weapons and 934 reeds of alleged drugs were seized by the National Police in conjunction with the National Aeronaval Service and the Penitentiary System, during Operation Armageddon carried out in pavilions one and two of the La Joyita Penitentiary Center.
According to Commissioner Luis García, Head of the Penitentiary Security Police Service, among the 95 white weapons seized are plates and knives; in addition to 20 plastic bags with a white powder that is presumed to be the drug cocaine.
He explained that they also seized 38 bags of dry herbs that are presumed to be marijuana and 150 high-end cell phones.
The penitentiary authorities stressed that they continue with these actions in order to guarantee the safety of the inmates and the personnel who work inside the penitentiary centers.
