The Cuban boxer Arlen López, double Olympic titleholder, won the Golden Belt Series crown in the 80-kilogram division this Friday, as part of the last stop of the World Boxing Tour 2022 that takes place in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he defeated without majors setbacks to the Algerian Younes Nemouchi.
The Guantanamo man obtained unanimous support from the judges (5-0), the same outcome as the one achieved in the semifinals against the Moroccan Mohamed Assaghir, who suffered up to three protection counts due to blows from Arlen.
Memouchi, the victimizer of the Barbadian Charles Cox in the previous round, could do little before the display of the Caribbean boxer, who once again showed his technical superiority and excellent physical condition.
Arlen’s victory at the last stop on the World Boxing Tour adds to the two knockouts he has delivered this year in his professional debut.
The fight in Guadalajara will have another day of definitions this Saturday with the leading role of Cuban Julio César La Cruz, who will face the host Carlos Antonio Rodríguez for the 92-kilogram belt.
According to the specialized site HITthis tournament has been promoted by the International Boxing Association “in order to expand its competitive calendar, but it was below expectations in terms of the number of athletes.”
