For political analyst Antonio De La Cruz, the only way to achieve a return to democracy is through dialogue and internal and external pressure. He considered that Maduro’s appearance before the TSJ after the questioned results of June 28 is a strategy to gain time.
Four days after the presidential elections in Venezuela, the National Electoral Council (CNE) headed by Elvis Amoroso revealed the results in a second bulletin that give Nicolás Maduro as the presumed winner. The opposition led by María Corina Machado claims to have in its possession more than 80% of these that demonstrate the victory of the candidate of the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), Edmundo González Urrutia.
While the international community is demanding an impartial verification of the process, Maduro is turning to the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) to settle the matter. Presidents of other countries, including Gustavo Petro of Colombia, have said that the only way to resolve the situation is through dialogue.

“In Venezuela, the solution is negotiation, there is no other way out,” said De La Cruz.
The political expert suggested that there are currently triangular talks between Petro, Brazilian President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva and Machado’s team. “Maduro even said recently that he wanted to talk with the United States.”
De La Cruz said that Machado and González Urrutia have been talking with representatives of the international community. “That is why we have the declaration from the United States recognizing the latter as president. There has been a conscientious effort to show that victory was obtained through an electoral process.”
Batiz recalled that Petro himself said that in Venezuela there are “serious doubts about the electoral process” and also exposed Maduro’s alleged willingness to return to the principles of the Qatar agreement with the United States, where the government committed to dialogue with the opposition, an audit of the Electoral Registry and transparent elections in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.
“We have a reality of fraud and there is evidence that it was carried out, there is an attempted coup d’état against popular sovereignty. Maduro decided to entrench himself and not leave power and the people do not have the strength to impose their will in the face of so much repression,” said De La Cruz.
The political analyst said that Maduro’s objective by appearing before the TSJ is to gain time.
“Maduro wants to lull the situation to sleep, but we Venezuelans are responsible for keeping this on the table.”
The expert said that the Maduro government thought it could manipulate the electoral system, but the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) was prepared for the scenario of fraud.
“If they are fabricating new minutes, these must be verifiable, they must have corresponding codes. The hacking reported by Amoroso is false, the same members of the PSUV table and witnesses know that Edmundo won.”
De La Cruz explained that the fact that Machado has warned that she is now safe does not mean that the struggle has lost strength.
“There is a strategic retreat and now in every place where the campaign ended she is calling for people to return,” said the engineer, referring to the call for an opposition rally this Saturday, August 3, in Las Mercedes.
Rísquez reported that according to Victim Monitor There are 19 people dead as a result of the post-election protests, Blanco added that there are selective arrests and threats to public employees.
“There is a de facto power that does not recognize sovereignty, it uses repression to the maximum, the people resort to peaceful protest because they do not have weapons. We must continue to fight and not give in to despair,” said De La Cruz.
For the analyst, the arrival of a hypothetical transition depends on how effective the internal and external pressure is.
“This is a process that has been built by each citizen. In the transition, a national liberation movement is needed that brings together all Venezuelans, even those who belonged to Chavismo. In essence, what is being defended here is democracy.”
