After an inspection carried out this Tuesday in the construction of the Belisario Salinas viaduct, the mayor of La Paz, Iván Arias, reported that the work is 80% complete and expects that this infrastructure will be delivered by the end of March, since only the sanitary connections and the road platform.
“This inauguration is planned for the end of March, we hope to have the support of Epsas (Public and Social Company of Water and Sanitation) to make some connections that facilitate us, that will speed us up, but within a month we will enable the 20th avenue of October; we are fixing the whole issue of paving,” reported Arias after the inspection.

The mayor recalled that last year he proposed to speed up the work with night work, but his suggestion was not supported, in addition to the rains.
“We wanted to do it quickly, we asked the citizens for permission to allow us to work 24 hours and they wouldn’t let us, and that’s why the work has been delayed and the rain has added to that; we are waiting for Epsas to help us move forward”, he explained.
The Mayor’s Office will have to coordinate with the water company to finalize the installation of the new sewage system and a water network.
“We will have new sewerage, 80-centimeter-diameter pipes for home connections, once the new system begins to work and the laying of the new drinking water network; when it is working, the road will be paved,” he said. the coordinator of Bridges of the Mayor’s Office of La Paz, Mauricio Sagárnaga.
The Belisario Salinas viaduct will allow a fluid connection between Miraflores and the upper part of Sopocachi. “The traffic that comes from Miraflores connects us with the north of Sopocachi and the city center; we are speeding up this traffic, people are going to save about 20 minutes of travel, avoiding the traffic jams that they had before,” Arias specified.
The authority stated that, to complete the work, the San Francisco de Asís University will contribute with the painting of murals. “We already have the commitment of the San Francisco de Asís University to help us paint, it will be a contribution from the university to beautify this viaduct that has to be full of a thousand colors.”
