Stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have shared their emotional reactions after receiving repeat Golden Globe nominations for their roles in the musical sequel, Wicked: For Good.
Both actresses were recognized for the second consecutive year for their portrayals of Glinda and Elphaba, respectively, as the film secured a total of five nominations for the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
Grande, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, expressed her gratitude on social media, calling the recognition a “tremendous honor.” In an Instagram Story, she wrote, “I’m so moved and grateful, there are truly no words,” adding that she was “blindsided” by the nod.
Speaking to The Hollywood ReporterGrande admitted she did not expect to be nominated twice for the same character, describing the experience as “extraordinary” and a “remarkable privilege.”
Erivo, nominated for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy, reacted with similar excitement from the rehearsal room of her current project, Dracula. She posted on Instagram, describing the news as “lovely” and calling her nomination “the cherry on top” of her journey with the character Elphaba.
Erivo also congratulated her co-star, referring to Grande as her “sweet sister,” and thanked the Golden Globes for her continued recognition.
Despite the individual acting nodes, Wicked: For Good faced a surprising snub in the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category, a field often dominated by major musical releases. However, the film earned a spot in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category, alongside blockbusters like Avatar: The Way of Water and Zootopia 2. Additionally, two original songs from the film, “The In Between” and “No Place Like Home,” received nominations, further highlighting the film’s musical impact.
The 2026 Golden Globe Awards ceremony is scheduled to air on January 11 on CBS, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser. Fans of the franchise will be watching closely to see if Grande and Erivo can turn their repeat nominations into wins during Hollywood’s big night.
