On September 25, the 7th cohort of the Diploma Food, Culture and Perspectives of the UCV will begin


Anthropologist Ocarina Castillo accompanied the Mobile ARI to the open -pit market of the Union of El Hatillo on a new visit of the usual informative route of the Rebel alliance investigates The whistle, Runrunes and SuchWhich.

Castillo, researcher of the culture and flavors of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), shared details about the new diploma dictated at the University: Food, culture and perspectives. “In the diploma what we do is see food from a multidimensional perspective.”

The specialist reported that the diploma is a space to see food not only as a thing that likes, satisfies health, but also as a landscape that has a story that tells us about the country.

Foods as a reflection of the Venezuelan resilience

“Right now we become good economists. You see that people already learned to perform the four locks,” Jasmin Rengifo shared humorous, a merchant of fruits, vegetables, plants and herbs from the market, with Professor Ocarina Castillo and with the Information truck.

Ocarina Castillo joined the fulfillment and assured that the greatest evidence of Rengifo’s statement is the Venezuelan food dish.

“We resist … we resist when we invented. We resist when we did not get an ingredient and put another. We resist the time when we could not eat the corn arepas and then we ate them from cassava.”

Castillo explained that throughout the development of the six cohorts of the diploma they have studied the food resilience of the Venezuelan through the employment “of the original pantry.”

The teacher reported that this training program will have teachers and multiple areas experts with the aim of providing a broad vision of food and culture. As for the students, he assured that everyone who is interested in feeding how object of study can pursue the diploma.

“We have researchers, we have historians, we have anthropologists, we have linguists. That is, everyone who is interested in the issue of food.”
