Ari mobile | Technovation Girls Venezuela empowers adolescents for social innovation

Technovation Girls teaches adolescents between 15 and 18 years to how to create an application that solves problems in its environment and is sustainable


The 8th edition of Technovation Girls Venezuela is ongoing. This global program is a training plan to empower women in the area of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In Venezuela, Claudia Valladares, leader of the Impact Hub organization, is the ambassador of this initiative.

This training program is aimed at adolescents between 15 and 18 and attends one of the objectives of the 2030 Agenda: gender equality and equal opportunities.

Ana Amundaray, coordinator of the initiative, shares with the information truck of the Rebelda Research Alliance (ARI), how training for these students is structured. “The idea is to give them an 18 -week training program, where they learn not only computer science, but also from a business plan.”

Likewise, the project manager explains that training also teaches them soft skills, such as the resolution of social problems, empowerment, assertive communication and sensitivity to the social problems of their environment.

Women impact, impact on communities

Amundaray shares that, according to their statistics, after training at least “30% (of the participants) maintains a participatory role within their communities.” In the same way, ensure that 80% of the participants, qualify the program as a rewarding experience from the point of view of learning.

Among the most successful applications proposed by these young entrepreneurs is one that allows people to learn sign language, one that helps students get university scholarships and a personal finance management.

The program manager explains to the mobile ARI that the execution of many of the applications created by adolescents by the economic barriers derived from the country’s situation has been complex. However, it ensures that in the face of this difficulties, new alliances that facilitate the stability in the time of these proposals are proposed.

Thanks to these new alliances Technovation Girls Venezuela develops other impact strategies in more than 6,500 students of Fe y Alegría with a training program that will be taught in these entities benefiting girls and boys equally.
