The lack of immunosuppressive medications, the conditions of the health system and the shortage of trained personnel are some of the reasons for the paralysis of the organ and tissue procurement system (spot) of the deceased person to a living person
The donation of organs of killed people to living people for transplantation in Venezuela has not been carried out for eight years. In 2017 the Venezuelan Foundation of Donations and Transplants of organs, tissues and cells (Fundavene), canceled these operations due to lack of immunosuppressive medications that facilitate the reception of organs in the body of transplants.
Of the 11 transplant centers that existed in 2014 today none is enabled. With the paralysis of the transplants the system that had built the National Transplant Organization of Venezuela (ONTV), since 1997, was dismantled. This was stated to the mobile ARI of the The whistle, Runrun.es and SuchWhich Dr. Anabela Arminio, nephrologist, medical advisor at the ONTV and also head of the Nephrology Service of the University Hospital of Caracas.

The paralysis of the transplant system has been gradual. Anabela Arminio reported that since 2014, transplants are not made at the University Hospital of Caracas. According to the specialists because “hospital conditions did not give to make transplant and a transplant center needs a hospital that works.”
Likewise, Dr. Arminio said that these centers must have specialists from all areas, with emergency laboratories and prepared personnel.
Although Arminio clarified that the transplants of living people to living people were rescued three years ago by Fundavene, he warned that there is only one trained center that is doing these operations, the Popular Clinic of Paradise. The specialist analyzed that in addition to the fact that a single center is not supplied, these patients should maintain prolonged care and not expose themselves to risky conditions that may happen, for example in return trips to their places of origin. “People have to be treated in place,” he said.
In addition to the structural deterioration of the organ donation system, the escape of trained personnel in the area that has emigrated in the country is added.
Nowadays the situation is much more complex than eight years ago because even if Findavene manages the necessary medicines for transplanted people, or health centers, nor are the staff trained to carry out transplant operations of deceased people to living people.

Dr. Arminio warned that system recovery is a measure that requires time, investment and “political will.”
Meanwhile, the specialist considered that it is important to “continue maintaining the subject in the mat.” In addition, he assured that it is necessary that patients ask the authorities to reactive. “There is much suspicion to ask for something that is the obligation of the State,” he said.
According to Arminio, the ONTV contemplates that the centers of A one are enabling, so that in a long term the 11 centers that previously provided these services work.
