Argentine president described Trump's blockade of Venezuela as brutal

The Argentine president, Alberto Fernández, in an interview with the French outlet France24, stressed that “Venezuela is still suffering from the drastic economic sanctions introduced by former US President Donald Trump,” which “were really brutal,” he said, adding that the Bolivarian nation it was isolated and impoverished by the unilateral coercive measures promoted from the White House during the bloodiest period of that US aggression against the entire population.

For Fernández, Trump’s successor in the White House, Joseph Biden, has a “more reasonable view,” he said.

The Argentine president traveled to the French capital invited to the Paris Peace Forum, which was held in that city from November 11 to 12.

The appreciations of the South American head of state were derived from the question of whether there could be a political dialogue in Venezuela between the government of President Nicolás Maduro and the opposition, regarding the meeting that both parties held in Paris with the mediation of the presidents of France, Emmanuel Macron; Argentina, Alberto Fernández and from Colombia Gustavo Petro. On behalf of the Venezuelan State, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, was there, while on behalf of one of the wings of the opposition in Venezuela; the most radical was former mayor Gerardo Blyde.

Jorge Rodriguez, was Venezuela’s special envoy for the Paris Peace Forum and from that space, during the conversation mediated by the South American and European leaders, he reiterated that the government of President Maduro is in the best disposition to advance in an agreement general with the Venezuelan oppositions.

The president of the Venezuelan Parliament also explained that any process of seeking agreements with the opposition in Venezuela and all processes of progress in talks with them necessarily involve the lifting of all unilateral coercive measures “that have cruelly affected the body social and economic of the entire Venezuelan society.

He explained that they are in the best disposition to advance in a general agreement, and that happens because the so-called international community understands that the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the country must be lifted, which were recently reissued by the European Union, an action from Brussels that was strongly rejected by the Bolivarian Alliance for the peoples of Our AmericaAlba-TCP.

During the interview with France24, the Argentine president, when asked if he believed there was a new opportunity for dialogue between the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, and the opposition, assured that “important steps” were taken towards new talks and indicated as members of the oppositions that previously rejected any negotiation with Maduro began to give way.

It is also appropriate to highlight that the special envoy of the Venezuelan State for the Paris Peace Forum, Jorge Rodríguez, highlighted being in the French capital, being convinced, together with the rest of the State, that “that the path of Venezuela is dialogue, the suspension of all illegal sanctions and respect for the Constitution”; this after the meeting with the leaders and Byde; representative of the most radical wing of the Venezuelan oppositions.
