This Monday, the Canadian company Josemaría Resources received the environmental guarantee to develop a project to exploit coppergold and silver in the province of San Juan.
To extract this metal, the mining company plans to invest 4,100 million dollars, with which the province “will receive the most important private investment in Argentina”; In addition, the production of copper It will also create employment.
This, since the company will need about 4,000 people in the construction stage and, later, more than 2,000 in the operation stage of the project for the extraction of copper.
This fact was highlighted by the Undersecretary of Mining, Andrés Vera, who pointed out through his social networks that said project is of great importance for the country.
“Argentina is going to produce copper again. The start-up of Josemaría will contribute, in investment alone, more than US$ 4,000 million to the Argentine economy. This is more work and more stability for everyone”.
The Secretary of Tax Policy, Roberto Arias, also celebrated the news, “The exploitation of a new mining project with gigantic potential begins. It will generate quality private employment”.
What will the copper extraction project be like?
The provincial government reported that “the project has estimated resources of 6.7 million pounds of copper, 7 million ounces of gold and 30.7 million ounces of silver.”
The mining production will be carried out in the open pit, with a processing plant of 152,000 tons per day, which will imply an annual production of 136 thousand tons of metal.
It will also have 231,000 ounces of gold and 1.1 million ounces of silver per year. However, the company indicates that its project will be friendly to the environment, so they will carry out strict controls.
