The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, signed with the Italian Ambassador in Buenos Aires, Fabrizio Lucentini, the first private agreement with Italy for debt refinancing that Argentina maintains with a group of creditor countries.
The initialed agreement is part of the implementation of the understanding with the Paris Club, which contributes to sustaining the recovery of economic stability and opens possibilities for bilateral financing of infrastructure projects and export promotionreported from the national portfolio.
The meeting at the Palacio de Hacienda was attended by the head of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec), Marco Lavagna; the head of Advisors of the Ministry of Economy, Leonardo Madcur; the Undersecretary of Finance, Nicolás Segal; and the counselor of the Italian Embassy, Marco Leone.
Last Friday, October 28, Minister Massa announced that the agreement with the Paris Club for a debt of US$ 2.4 billion was concluded “successfully”.
The debt that Argentina has is with 24 agencies and banks from 15 countries: Germany, Spain, France, the United States, Belgium, Denmark, Austria, Canada, Israel, Italy, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
