In a press release, Argentina condemned the arrest warrants against government officials and noted that the Emtrasur plane case was resolved by the judiciary independently, while stressing the importance of the division of powers in the country, in contrast to the situation in Venezuela under the government of Nicolás Maduro.
The Argentine government on Wednesday, September 18, rejected the arrest warrants issued by the Attorney General of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, against the president of the nation, Javier Milei, his sister Karina Milei, general secretary of the Presidency, and the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, whom he accused of stealing and dismantling an airplane belonging to the Venezuelan company Emtrasur.

The Argentine government also reminded the Venezuelan regime that Argentina is governed by the separation of powers and judicial independence, implicitly criticizing the situation in Venezuela under the mandate of Nicolás Maduro, where they claim that this basic principle of democracy is not respected.
The Venezuelan Prosecutor’s Office charged the officials with the crimes of aggravated robbery, money laundering, unlawful deprivation of liberty, simulation of a punishable act, unlawful interference, disabling of aircraft, and criminal association, for the retention in Argentina of the Boeing 747-300M cargo plane, a subsidiary of Conviasa, in 2022.
Saab also appointed a human rights prosecutor to investigate what he called “premeditated institutional violence” by Milei’s government against human rights in Argentina, with a particular focus on senior citizens, retirees and pensioners. According to Saab, these acts could constitute crimes against humanity.
